Fiesta is a Spanish word for a holiday or celebration, but in reality it is difficult to translate. It is a Spanish tradition of celebrating local religious, historical or folk festivals. Each city and region in Spain celebrate fiestas at different times and in different ways, however, they are always cheerful street festivities, in which all the locals and tourists participate. La Tomatina celebrated in Buñol is among the most popular ones – it is a festival during which participants get involved in a tomato fight. Feria de Agosto is another popular one, it is a nine-day festival in Malaga commemorating the fair that used to take place there. Local authorities need to include a considerable amount of money in the annual budget for decoration of the city and fireworks, so that the Spanish tradition of celebrating is fulfilled.
