Stollen is a delicious cake filled with candied and dried fruits. This traditional German cake is popular on the tables during Christmas time. Apart from fruit peel and dried fruit, chopped or ground almonds are also added. Due to the fact that the cake is very sweet, its flavor can be mixed with slightly sour ingredients such as dried cranberry. This delicious dessert sprinkled with powdered sugar, tastes best with a cup of coffee of a glass of wine. German fruit cake can be bought at local Christmas fairs. The most famous Christmas fair is the Striezelmarkt, which has been taking place in Dresden since the 15th century.
