Buildings of Alfama (Portugal) online puzzle
Alfama is a historic district of Lisbon, located on a hill overlooking the Tagus River. Historically, it is the oldest part of the city, constituting its center as early as during the reign of the Moors. Thanks to its location on a rocky hill, the buildings of Alfama were not destroyed by the earthquakes that hit Lisbon in the 18th century. Winding, narrow streets and sidewalks of Alfama are paved with very fine paving stones. Although it is very steep here, it is worth exploring the area on foot to feel its unique atmosphere. The most recognizable monuments of the Old Town are located on the outskirts of the district. These include the Sé Cathedral and Saint George Castle.
